The King of Denmark hears a prophecy foretelling that the princess will marry a common soldier. He imprisons her in a tower, executes all storytellers and fortune tellers, and sends all soldiers to war. Now the wicked Oberpolitzmeister rules the kingdom with inept gendarmes, secretly wielding his magic lock and carillon. But brave soldier Hans will not stand idly by — his goal: to free the princess and save his country from the tyrannical oppressor.

Based on the classic fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, this production features magical heroes, witches, woodpunk-style robot dogs, marionettes, and dancing and singing sequences. The adaptation has charm and wit, with a notably bold narrative. Russian director Andjei Petras is also a celebrated and award-winning composer with vast experience across film, theatre and television.
